I am currently the Vice President of the board for Mission 4 Mexico. I have been a board member since the fall of 2014, was elected to be Vice President the following year, and it has been an honor to serve as Vice President for the last 4 years. I grew up in Portland, Oregon going to church and have been at the same church for all 27 (almost 28) years of my life. When I was a freshman in high school I responded to an alter call to overseas missions. By my junior year I was able to fundraise myself to go on a mission trip to Germany with the Northwest Baptist Convention. There confirmed my passion to “go” (Matt. 28:19-20). After graduating high school, I moved to Corvallis, Oregon and attended college at Oregon State University where I got a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with a focus in Early Childhood Education. My husband and I got married while we were both attending OSU, and by the time my husband graduated we felt called to return to my home church in Portland and start serving in the youth group. We started in the fall of 2012, where shortly after we received registration forms for the M4M spring trip from a long-time church friend my family knew growing up who was herself an overseas missionary and had been going with M4M for a number of years. Without hesitation, my husband and I encouraged our students to join us on this new opportunity and we took two students in March 2013.
Since returning from our first trip with M4M we have grown in our passion to serve the area of San Luis, Mexico and have sent a group of students and adults every year for the last 6 years. Our church recently merged with another church body to become one international church, and it has been a blessing to serve our even bigger and more diverse group of students that we hope to encourage to participate in Mission 4 Mexico in the future.
